Central Library

Swindon's Town Centre is home to one of the most modern libraries in the whole of the UK - and truly a library for the 21st century.

You are never far away from a wealth of books and useful information resources in the Swindon Central Library. Their online resources even bring the library to you in the comfort of your own home…

Swindon Central Library has three floors of books - 77,000 of them in all - and a whole lot more besides. There's a stylish cafe on the ground floor, for a start, with furniture that seems to have been built specifically with the idea of winding down with a novel or a newspaper and a cup of coffee. It's open seven days a week.

Costing £10million and featuring no less than 60 free-to-use computers with internet access, the library also houses the impressive Swindon Collection, which is a mouth-watering treasure trove for anybody interested in browsing local history.
