Black Friday is an excellent opportunity for shoppers to grab a bargain on the lead up to Christmas. In a recent report by the Centre for Retail Research for VoucherCodes, shoppers are forecast to spend £2.53 billion on Black Friday, 3.4 per cent more than last year. It’s also predicted that spending in the UK will be the highest in Europe – 29 per cent higher than second-highest Germany and more than Italy, Spain, Belgium and The Netherlands combined. And according to Deloitte, UK shoppers will spend an average of £6 more on Christmas this year, with a preference for buying gifts and food on the high street in physical stores, rather than online. These reports are encouraging news for town centres and high streets, including Swindon where we encourage people to support our town centre businesses and shop local and experience our festivities.
Having officially launched our Christmas campaign on the 16th November, we’re looking forward to a busy period. There’s plenty going on for all the family, with events throughout the town centre including a selection of Christmas chalets along The Parade and Santa’s Grotto in The Brunel. Visitors can also shop and save by taking advantage of the great offers and discounts in many of the town centre stores through our Loyalty Club.And we’ll be promoting additional Black Friday special offers through our Facebook and Twitter pages, highlighting even more opportunities for shoppers to save money in the town centre.
