Swindon Borough Council is seeking to recruit a Youth Offending Team Officer with a relevant professional qualification, such as Youth Justice, Criminology, Social Work, Teaching, to join their Youth Offending Team in Swindon.

The successful candidate will bring experience of working with vulnerable and challenging young people/service users. The successful candidate will manage a diverse caseload, which encompasses both pre, and post court work using targeted and creative intervention.

We are looking for an experienced, committed and highly motivated staff member with a high level of skill and knowledge base to join our multi-disciplinary service in order to help us continue to deliver an effective service. You will work as part of the Youth Offending Team (YOT) and undertake all duties in relation to Safeguarding young people and managing risk to the community.

The successful applicant will need to be able to write reports (such as Breach Reports as well Referral Order Reports), carry out high quality assessments using Asset-plus system; though training on the Asset-plus system will be provided if needed. The successful applicant must able to be to deliver interventions to reduce the young people’s risk of further offending as well as to manage risk of harm to themselves and others.

This post will require a commitment to work occasional weekends and unsocial hours as and when required.

Candidates must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act – for the effective performance of a customer-facing role).
