Family Intervention and Support Service provides early help to the most vulnerable children, young people and their families to prevent escalation to statutory social care services in Swindon. As a Family Worker you will be expected to be flexible with working hours that fit around the needs of families. You will be offered a flexible hour’s contract of 37 hours per week, you will also be offered staff benefits including various discounts from services and businesses in Swindon. The post includes 25 days annual leave per annum.

As a Family Service Worker you will be responsible for a caseload of families. You will be part of a team working alongside your coordinator and Senior Family Workers for support and guidance. You will be provided with appropriate on the job training and will have access to a range of personal learning and development opportunities provided by the borough.

You will have a caseload that may include ‘joint working’ alongside a Social Worker or other professionals and cases in which you are working as the lead professional.

You will be required to plan and co-ordinate assessments and targeted support services for families, children and young people; supporting and implementing Team Around the Family meetings and plans.

To succeed in this role you will need demonstrable experience and an understanding of the relevant, guidance, policy and procedures that underpin working with children, young people and their families. You will need to have experience and knowledge of working with and providing support to children, young people and their families. You will also need resilience, skills in risk management, the ability to manage your own time well and the ability to prioritise your work.
