Swindon Borough Council is looking for two members of the public to join an existing Independent Remuneration Panel to help set the level of allowances that are paid to Borough Councillors each year. The Panel is also involved in setting the level of allowances that are paid to Parish and Town Councillors in Swindon.
Appointments of Lay Members to the Panel are for a period of three years. The time commitment required should be no more than 2 to 3 hours in a year when no review is being held, and around 18 hours in a year when a review is held. An allowance of £200 per year plus travelling and subsistence expenses will be payable to the successful applicants.
