60 seconds with... Tom Watts

How long have you been with inSwindon?

I started June 2018, so approx. 18 months.

Tell us a bit about a typical day in the life of Tom?

Every day is a different day in the role of the street team, that’s what is so good about the role.

Day to day starts off with a car park patrol to check the welfare of any rough sleeping individuals, this gives me and the team and chance to offer support and guidance to the individuals to different charity’s/organisations.

Working as part of the street team we work for the businesses and the public needs, Regular visits to businesses to offer and guidance on the BIDs services including loss prevention, ASB, marketing, promotional events, offers/sales in store to promote.

I particularly enjoy working alongside The Police and Swindon Borough Council to help reduce criminal activity and anti-social behaviour in the BID area, providing evidence towards injunctions to help reduce the ASB activity in certain areas of the town centre.

'Operation Dasher' throughout Christmas is an event I especially enjoy. Throughout the day we patrol The BID area and meet numerous members of the public, which we take the time to discuss their thoughts and opinions. I enjoy working with the individuals who have trouble sticking to the law and rules of the town centre, I have gained valuable experience dealing with different issues that arise with these individuals.

What’s your biggest highlight of your career?

Working alongside The Police on 'Operation Dasher' and helping to significantly reduce criminal activity in the town centre over the Christmas period. I also loved working my first Christmas Lights Switch On and providing a great event for our BID members and the general Public, I’m really enjoyed this year - a great team effort from all involved.

Tell us an interesting fact about you...
