Dynamic Autumn performances lined up at Swindon Dance

An exciting new season of performances awaits Swindon Dance for Autumn 2016, with an engaging mix of shows to thrill a range of audiences.

By Emma Christie

Leviathan’ kicks off the new season at the Wyvern Theatre on October 11. Multi-award winning choreographer James Wilton re-imagines Herman Melville’s timeless novel ‘Moby Dick’, with a blend of athletic dance, martial arts, Capoeira and partner-work.

Following is ‘Trip Up’, performed by Partners Theatre Company; an inclusive company of disabled performers with a reputation for the quality and the currency of their work.

Presented by Luke Brown, ‘For You I Long The Longest’ is a double bill of alluring dance theatre, exploring the ever-changing nature of love and romance.

If you’re a newcomer, ‘2+1’ is a chance to dip your toe in to the world of dance performances. At just 30 minutes in length, Amir Giles (ITV’s Mr Selfridge) and Anna Pilbrow take a humorous look at early parenthood in conjunction with Get Creative Family Arts Festival.

Family-friendly ‘The Doodle Dance Show’ is back after a sell-out first tour. The playful, interactive story show presented by Tom Roden and award winning dancer-performer Anna Williams is designed to get the whole family moving and doodling together.

And if you’ve been inspired by the performances to try it yourself , Swindon Dance runs a large selection of classes and projects for all ages and abilities. Classes include classics such as Jazz, Tap, Salsa, and Ballet, but if that’s not enough to make you to grab your dancing shoes, why not explore Caribbean funk, Bharatanatyam, or Street Jam?

Swindon Dance is based in the heart of Swindon in the former Victorian Town Hall, where it has been a leading innovator in Dance Development in the UK for over three decades.

Book classes online here.  New season classes run from 12 September to 10th December.
