Coal Grill & Bar – Founder John Gater travelled the USA and enjoyed fresh food, cooked simply and full of flavour. Coffee Shops

The cafe culture is alive and well, with the perfect combination of brand names and independents we've come to rely on, such as Starbucks on Canal Walk, Café Nero on Bridge Street, Triple Two Coffee on Havelock Square and Costa Coffee in The Parade.
If it’s more of an independent feel you are after, Swindon has plenty of individual little havens such as Fillerz on Theatre Square. Havelock Street is home to many well-known little cafes catering for everyone’s needs including Blues for your traditional English food, Crunch Coffeeshop offering a widely varied menu and  Casa Du Piri Piri for your Portuguese tastes.

You can also choose to sample the unique atmosphere of the cafes in The Brunel - you will find Muffin Break in the Plaza along with Boswells in The Arcade.

If you're caught up busy shopping in one of department stores and finding yourself gasping, then why not check out the cafes they have on offer!  This includes Debenhams in The Parade and Marks & Spencers and House of Fraser in The Brunel.

For that sweet tooth and in need of a treat, we suggest Abe's Cakes on Market Street offering a wide selection of drinks and something extremely sweet and naughty to go with it!

Traditional Pubs

If you're looking for one of your well known traditional pubs with some great offers on food then why not check out one of the two Wetherspoons. The Savoy is at the top of Regent Street, or head over to the Sir Daniel Arms, on Fleet Street. Or you can visit Yates’ on Bridge Street or the GW and Queen’s Tap on Station Road.

On the go...

With no time to stop but still in need of a quick bite, Swindon has plenty to offer. There are three Greggs in the town centre – Market Street, Havelock Square and The Parade. We have three Subway’s offering fantastic lunch deals on Havelock Street, Bridge Street and Regent Circus. We also have Roosters Piri Piri who have opened up at Fleet Square providing healthy flame grilled street food.

For a traditional pasty why not check out one of our outlets; Cornish Bakehouse in The Parade or the Cornish Kitchen on Regent Street.

If you still want to sit down to enjoy your food but still in a hurry then McDonalds on Canal Walk is the place for you. Grab a bite here and on a nice day take it out onto Wharf Green to eat. Check out our What’s On Guide for any entertainment that might be happening in and around that area.
